Voicemail Features and Management

John Scarborough: Voicemail management is one of the most frequently used features from within your personal Web portal. Once you log in to your portal, click on Messaging on the left hand side then click on Voice Management. In this section, you can add voicemail to e-mail which will send the voicemail to your e-mail as a way of attachment. This is an audio file that you can then listen to on your computer. To do this, click the box next to where it says, “E-mail a carbon copy of the message to,” and then insert your e-mail address in the corresponding text box next to that.

Another great feature that’s available to you is the zero-alt function. This allows you to tell a person in your voicemail greeting that they can dial zero to be routed to a different telephone number. To turn on the zero-alt function, check the box next to where it says, “Transfer on 0 to Phone Number,” and add the number you want to zero-alt to, which could be an extension or even a full 10-digit phone number like your cell phone number for example.

You can also change the number of rings before your greeting starts. First, you will want to hit the OK button and then go to Greetings. Once in there, at the bottom, you will see something that says, “Number of rings before greeting”. This is where you can increase or decrease the number of rings a call takes before going to your voicemail box.
